School of Advanced Leadership Training

Coastal Church believes in equipping servant leaders of this generation within the local church. Through our partnership with HOPE International University in Southern California, we are able to offer online courses from their School of Advanced Leadership Training (SALT). This school is designed to strengthen the biblical foundation, ministry skills, emotional, and spiritual health of emerging Christian leaders.

Whether you want to further your academic pursuits or simply take courses for spiritual enrichment, SALT courses may be audited, taken for undergraduate or graduate credit. The flexibility of these online courses make them ideal for anyone who may also be working during the week. With that said, we also believe in mentorship and collaboration. An exciting feature of these courses is that you will be taking them alongside others who are attending Coastal Church and will meet with them weekly along with an appointed mentor from the church.

Upon completion of five SALT courses, students are eligible to receive a “Certificate of Ministry” from HOPE International University.

Course Information

DURATION: each online course is 7 weeks long

TUITION: $250 (TBC) per course + Required Textbooks cost ($30- $50, depending on the course)

COURSE FORMAT: Lectures with PowerPoint, discussions, and assignments are conducted online and moderated by University Professors

MENTORING SESSIONS: Once a week at the church. These sessions are designed for students to discuss how to apply principles learned within their local context, and more.

ELIGIBILITY & LEVEL OF INVOLVEMENT: Courses are open to anyone who has completed high school, or to mature students seeking to strengthen their foundation in Christ through formal university-level classes. Those seeking course credit can opt to enrol as undergraduate or graduate students. Those not seeking course credit have the option to audit the course.

ACCREDITATION: Courses are accredited through the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), and the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE).

Registration & Textbooks:

Follow these steps to register:

1) Fill out SALT registration form and leave it with Guest Services Dropbox, or at our office between 8:30 AM-4:30PM. Alternatively, you can email your application to Karen Wong.

2) Include your tuition payment via Coastal tithe envelope clearly marked “SALT tuition”. You may pay at the Coastal Bookstore if using credit card or debit. Alternatively, you can pay tuition online here.

3) Once received, we’ll process your registration and tuition with HOPE. In turn, the university will send you login instructions. Also, you’ll receive further confirmation from our office with other important details.

4) Purchase textbooks from our Coastal Bookstore. We’ll place a textbook order once your registration is received. As a Coastal SALT students, the church offers you a discount on SALT textbooks. Expect to spend $20 – $50 on top of course tuition.
